Interconnection Book
This project is a 22-page design book adaptation of a poem and YouTube video script originally created by the YouTuber Scruffy. The content focused on one of my favorite games, which made the process especially meaningful and exciting. My goal was to translate the video’s sound elements, visual imagery, and narrative explanations into a print format capturing its tone and rhythm through typography, layout, and design.

Research
My process began with closely listening to the YouTube video and transcribing the script into a separate document for reference. From there, I gathered visual inspiration from books, posters, and infographics focusing on work that was sound related, minimalist, and inspired by nature.
The script explores the sound design in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, so I knew I would be taking on the monumental task of portraying sound in a 2D landscape. Because the video highlights how the game’s audio draws heavily from natural elements, I aimed to reflect that connection by blending themes of sound and nature throughout the design.

Process
The refinement process was deeply tied to discovering what I truly wanted to create. I began by experimenting with imagery, drawn to themes of nature, sound, and exploration. My first draft filled the negative space extensively, but the result felt cluttered and overwhelming. This realization led me to pursue a quieter, more intentional approach.
By stripping back excess imagery, I was able to focus more clearly on typography and layout. As I gained confidence in type choices and composition, I shifted my attention to the rhythm of the dialogue itself, allowing the narrative flow to guide the positioning of the text. From there, I introduced ornaments and supporting visuals that enhanced the pacing of each spread, incorporating feedback from peers and professors throughout the process.
